Re-establishing Termo-ING's online presence

How we replaced a site untouched since 2006 with a bilingual glass mosaic catalog that brings customers to the showroom

Termo-ING

Termo-ING is a Split-based supplier of glass mosaic, ceramic tiles and building materials for swimming pools. When we started working together, their website had not been updated since 2006. It no longer worked properly, showed none of the current product range and was practically invisible in search. Customers looking for pool tiles online simply did not find them.

Twenty years without a web presence

A website that stops changing slowly stops existing. Search engines stop trusting it, links break, and the products it shows are no longer the ones on the shelf. For Termo-ING this meant that architects, contractors and homeowners researching pool finishes online never reached them, even though they carry some of the best-known glass mosaic and tile brands in Europe.

The goal was clear from the start: put Termo-ING back on the map with a modern catalog of everything they offer, one their own team can keep up to date without calling a developer.

Why a catalog and not a web shop

Glass mosaic is a material you have to see in person. Each tile is glass, so its colour changes with depth, daylight and the water above it. A photo on a screen shows one angle under one light. It cannot show how the same tile looks at the bottom of a pool at noon or in the evening.

That is why we did not build a cart and checkout. The site is a showroom that helps customers explore collections, compare finishes and narrow down their choice, then brings them to Termo-ING. There, their experts help define the pool the customer has in mind: the right mosaic, the right adhesive and grout, the right quantities for the project. Every product page leads to that conversation, not to a payment form.

The architecture at a glance

The site is a single Next.js application with Payload CMS built in, backed by a PostgreSQL database. Visitors and editors use the same application: the public catalog on one side, the content admin on the other. One codebase, one database and one deployment keep the system simple to run for a catalog that does not need distributed infrastructure.

  • Next.js renders the public pages on the server, so content arrives as complete HTML that is fast to load and easy for search engines to read.
  • Payload CMS gives Termo-ING an admin panel for brands, collections, products, building materials and the pool gallery.
  • PostgreSQL stores all content, with every schema change applied through reviewed migrations.
  • The whole stack runs in Docker and ships through an automated pipeline that type-checks, lints and runs end-to-end tests before anything is released.

Content the client controls

The old site failed because updating it was hard. The new one is built around the people who keep it current. Everything a visitor sees comes from the CMS, organised the way Termo-ING thinks about their range.

Brands and collections

Glass mosaic from Ezarri and Vidrepur, ceramic tiles from Exagres and Cerámica Mayor, and building materials from Kerakoll, LATICRETE, LITOKOL and Mapei each have their own brand page, with collections and products grouped underneath.

Products and building materials

Tile products carry their original manufacturer names, colours and galleries. Adhesives, grouts, waterproofing and other building materials have their own catalog with categories and stock status, so a customer can plan the full pool build, not just the visible surface.

Pool gallery

A gallery of finished pools shows real projects, each photo linked to the exact tile and collection used. It is the closest a screen gets to seeing the material in place, and it gives visitors a concrete starting point when they visit the showroom.

When an editor saves a change, only the affected pages are refreshed. New products and photos appear on the live site within moments, without a rebuild or a developer.

One site, two languages

Croatian is the primary language and English is a full alternative for foreign investors, architects and holiday-home owners. Every page, product description and gallery label exists in both, and each language has its own URLs. Visitors land in the language they searched in, and search engines know exactly which version to show to whom.

From browsing to a conversation

In the Croatian market, WhatsApp is how people talk to businesses, so it is the main way to get in touch. Every product and material has an inquiry button that opens a conversation or a contact form already filled in with the product the customer was looking at.

  • Each inquiry is saved in the CMS, so no request gets lost in a personal inbox.
  • The team gets an email notification, and replying goes straight to the customer.
  • Inquiries are anonymised automatically after two years, keeping personal data handling GDPR compliant without manual cleanup.

Built to be found

Visibility was the reason for the project, so search was part of the design, not an afterthought. Pages are prerendered and cached, which keeps them fast. A bilingual sitemap lists every page with its language alternatives, and products carry structured data that describes them to search engines in their own vocabulary. Clean, readable URLs and a proper branded 404 page complete the picture.

A first impression that feels like water

The homepage opens with an animated pool floor: light caustics moving over a tiled surface, rendered in real time in the browser. It sets the mood in a second and says what Termo-ING does before a visitor reads a word. It is drawn with a lightweight shader instead of video, so it loads quickly, and it respects visitors who prefer reduced motion.

The result

After almost twenty years, Termo-ING is back online with a site that reflects their actual range, in two languages, on every device. Their team updates it themselves, customers find them when they search for pool tiles, and every visit ends where the sale really happens: in a conversation with someone who knows how the glass will look in the water.
